HLA - Operations was founded in 2018 to manage all aspect of manufacturing, testing and launch operations. We are the first dedicated Operations department in collegiate rocketry. In addition to our technical duties, we manage the improvement and maintenance of the machine shops used by HLA at the City College of New York.

Groups
Manufacturing: HLA has always prided itself on doing all of its manufacturing work inhouse. Currently the Manufacturing Group is creating curriculums to train students in specific concentrations of manufacturing. Those are:
- Metal Work
- Wood Work
- Composites
Test & Launch Infrastructure (T&LI) Group: There is more equipment needed for a rocket launch or engine test than just the boomy part! T&LI Group is responsible for the design and manufacture of test stands, control boards, propellant transfer systems and launch rails.
Currently the group consists of two ME471 Senior Design Groups: Test Stand for a Hybrid Rocket Engine Ground Firing and Propellant Transfer System for a Hybrid Rocket Engine.

Applied Human Factors Research Group: Aerospace operations at any level are human-machine complex systems. Just as additional equipment is needed for a rocket launch, an additional training regime and procedural environment is required for the safe, efficient operation of these systems. AHF is collegiate rocketry's first human factors group in collegiate rocketry's first operations department. We are partnered with the CCNY Psychology Department via Professor Richard Paino.
Field Operations: When it comes time to launch a rocket or test an engine, a Field Operations Team is assembled consisting of technical personnel, operators (if necessary), logistics and communications personnel, recovery teams (if necessary). We operate in environments from wintery upstate New York to the baking New Mexico desert. HLA - Operations is prepared to meet any logistical challenge.
THE TEAM
Our team is assembled of dedicated students who are willing to learn and support each other in developing their problem solving skills.
Mohammad Chowdhury
Chief of Operations
Mohammad is a senior in Mechanical Engineering. He oversees and approve all project being performed by the Operations department. He is also a Section Lead for the Propellant filling system design team under T&LI Group
Jennifer Enriquez Lead Manufacturing Engineer Jennifer is a senior in Biomedical Engineering. As the lead Manufacturing engineer, her role is to approve manufacturing related permits, organize and oversee manufacturing tasks. She is currently working oncreating curriculums to train students to grain skills in specific aspects of manufacturing rocketry components. |
Jordan Ng Design Engineer Test & Launch Infrastructure Group Jordan is a Senior in Mechanical Engineering. He is the Section Lead and Operating Engineer for the Test Stand design team under T&LI Group, used to evaluate a paraffin wax-nitrous oxide hybrid rocket engine. |
Bradley Brown Bradley a recent Psychology graduate from CCNY with interests in behavioral psychology in technical/ organizational systems. He primarily assists with research that contributes to optimized organizational systems, risk and incident management, as well as the improvement of any of our sociotechnical processes that may need more attention. |
Isaiah DeJesus RESEARCHER -APPLIED HUMAN FACTORS RESEARCH GROUP Isaiah is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at CCNY. He is interning with HLA, where he is working on proposing designs for the Graphical User Interface(GUI) of Control Board created by the I&C Group under Electrical Engineering, through the use of research into human physiology to create an optimized system. |
